Jobs - We need a few good pickers!
We can always use a few good strawberry pickers. We primarily employ youth in the 12-16 year old range. It is not an easy job, but for those willing to work it can be financially rewarding. We pay by the pound for picking strawberries. In 2008, we paid 60 cents a pound. Our top picker last year picked on 15 different days and made almost $300. We offer a very flexible schedule. We work around schedules for band, sports, driver’s ed., etc.
PARENTS: Please don’t force your child to work for us. You’re not doing them or us any favors. We need youths that can work with little supervision. And while we would love to teach your child the joys are hard work, we simply don’t have the time in our busy and short season. You will need to transport your child to and from our farm. You may find others in your neighborhood to car pool with. We start at 6:30 a.m. and finish at various times depending on orders. Our season is about 3 weeks long, from early to mid June until end of June or early July. We start at 6:30 a.m. and try to be done no later than 12 noon each day. We are open 7 days a week, for about 3 weeks.
We also need youths to weed before the strawberry season starts. In 2008, we paid $5.00 an hour for weeding. We like to have people come and weed before the strawberry season as it helps get them ready for picking strawberries.
